SMM News on July 3: According to official information obtained by SMM, Guangxi Yusheng Germanium Industry High-tech Co., Ltd. has launched an open tender sale for a batch of zone-refined germanium ingots and germanium dioxide starting today. Specifically, according to official information, this batch of goods includes 800 kg of germanium dioxide and 500 kg of zone-refined germanium ingots, all of which are spot cargo. The cargo pick-up time must be before July 15, 2025, and the content will be based on assay results. The minimum bid quantity is 300 kg for germanium dioxide and 200 kg for zone-refined germanium ingots. The starting bid prices are 10,800 yuan/kg for germanium dioxide and 16,200 yuan/kg for zone-refined germanium ingots. The delivery method is self pick-up by the buyer, and the freight will be borne by the buyer. The bidding period ends on July 10, 2025. The email address for submitting bids is 18207781271@163.com. Contact person: Mr. Peng, phone number 13768181116.

Market participants said that considering the current tight supply of germanium products in the market, along with the reluctance of many manufacturers to sell, and the fact that a previous batch of zone-refined germanium ingots and germanium dioxide from Guangxi Yusheng Germanium Industry High-tech Co., Ltd. fetched high prices at auction, with zone-refined germanium ingots selling at 16,100 yuan/kg, and given that the quantity of germanium products for sale this time is significantly less than the previous batch, market participants believe there is a high likelihood of successful transactions. SMM will continue to follow up and report on the tender results.

Silicon Metal Market Review for January and Outlook for February
In January, the silicon metal market experienced a relatively loose supply-demand balance, with a theoretical inventory buildup of approximately 30,000 mt. In February, both supply and demand contracted simultaneously, and the market is expected to show a tight balance or minor destocking. The current high industry inventory still requires time to be digested, and the sustainability of destocking remains a key variable affecting price trends and market sentiment.

A plant in northern China is calling for bids for indium ingots and bismuth ingots
SMM, February 6 - According to SMM’s investigation of market information, a large smelter in northern China began public bidding for a certain quantity of indium ingots and bismuth ingots starting yesterday. Market sources indicate that the starting price for these indium ingots exceeds 4,000 yuan per kilogram, while the starting price for bismuth ingots is above 150,000 yuan per ton. The bidding results are expected to be announced before the Spring Festival. Market participants note that, given the clear trend of sluggish trading activity ahead of the Spring Festival, the timing of this bidding is not ideal. However, the relatively favorable starting prices have generated considerable market anticipation for the outcome of the bidding.
